Planning the Championship October 17-19, 2008

Commodore Ulf Torberger was invited by the Polish organizers for a planningweekend October 17-19, 2008.

Summary of the weekend:
Preferred location is in a small village south of Gizycko, out on contryside. Lake is 4x6km and accessible from "Gospoda Gasthaus". www.gospoda.pl  You can access ice from Gospoda by car & traler. Distance from Gospoda accomodation to the ice is less than 75 meter.

Within daily drivingdistance there are two more possible lakes in comparable size. Within Poland there are even a few more possible lakes/locations. It is also possible to move regatta to Sweden or even Lithuania. Polish organization is well aware of that championships may be moved in case of bad ice/weather in Poland. Support from local villagemayor is promised.

Polish organizers is already planning details and talking to sponsors. To me it looks excellant with all possible equipment available. 4-wheel veichles and much more. Accomodation in Gospoda.pl is about 35 beds, with restaurant, bar, relax room and nice clean rooms. In the small village there are appox 150 beds available.

Poland expect 10-15 polish XV to take part in championship, this summer-fall they are building 4-5 new XV. I have seen two of them in the Yachclub. A professional translator will be available, named Magdalena.

Food is excellent !! Gas is approx as in Europe.

Polish organizers will soon open a dedicated web-page for the championship. There you can register online and get instructions on how to pay fee.

Distance from Gdansk is approx 300km (?), 4-5 hours by car/trailer. Roads are not so good as in Sweden/Germany, but quite OK. Gasstation is available along roads.

Meausures: Polish organization WILL MEASURE your XV with great precision, please check your equipment carefully. And I really mean it!
